In April 2022, the citizens of Sri Lanka came together as one powerful voice, demonstrating the unshakable unity of our nation. As a nation we proved that democracy and freedom are inextricably linked, and that it is the collective actions of citizens that ensure our democracy remains vibrant, responsive, and accountable to the needs of the people.
With a common goal of a peaceful country and a bright future for our children, nothing can stand in the way of our determination to protect and preserve the democratic principles that underpin our society.
In 2022, through Singularity Sri Lanka, we launch the campaign “Democracy is a lifestyle” to spread awareness on the importance of active participation in the democratic process and the role of citizens in shaping their country’s future through their vote and their voices.
Statistics say that democracy is exponentially deteriorating globally, and that more countries are moving into an authoritative direction from a democratic direction, every year. Evidently, Sri Lanka is also a classic example of a country that is democratically backsliding. A democratic society can lead to greater social and political stability, as well as economic growth and prosperity.
